Bayreuth game studio Emergo Entertainment, led by Paul Redetzky, is producing an LLM driven creature battler for the German public broadcast union ARD with the X Lab of broadcaster SWR. Promptables – Das KI-Duell is "a turn-based pvp creature combat game where you can freely invent your creatures' abilities. An AI evaluates what happens when two abilities clash."

Redetzky said in his announcement post: "Playful learning is the best way of learning & a game like this can absolutely help people learn about LLMs and (hopefully) how to break them."

The game can already be wishlisted on Steam, a demo is set to be released soon.

Redetzky explains in a statement to GamesMarkt: "The German public broadcaster ARD gave us the opportunity and financial backing to work on a game that uses an LLM as part of it's core mechanic. This is a very exciting opportunity for us. Considering the debate of use for AI in games, we believe this is a great way forward with AI enabling new types of games that wouldn't be possible without AI.

The fantasy of inventing your own attacks for creatures was immediately appealing to us and so we're super happy that the ARD AI podcast & SWR X-Lab teams are trusting us with developing the offical game for the show. We're also excited to see German public broadcasting get more involved with developing and publishing games, which the likes of ARTE have been doing for many years!"
