Amplitude Studios is a French video game developer best known for Humankind and the Endless franchise. After splitting from Sega, the studio has now announced its next game: Endless Legend 2. The 4X strategy game will be published by Hooded Horse.

Since the beginning of November 2024, the French Amplitude Studios have been independent again, following a management buy-out (MBO) after eight years with Sega Europe. Now, at its annual community event called Amplified, the studio, which employs over 180 people, has announced its first new game since the split. It is another instalment in the Endless franchise, Endless Legend 2. The fantasy strategy game will be released in Early Access on PC in early 2025. Its predecessor was released in September 2014. As with Humankind, the company is offering the chance to join its Insiders programme to provide feedback before release.

A publisher has also been found: Hooded Horse, the US-based publisher specialising in strategy and tactical games, known for their work on Manor Lords, Against the Storm, Norland, Terra Invicta, Falling Frontier and most recently Shadow Gambit: The Cursed Crew. "Amplitude has been making world-class strategy games for over a decade," says Hooded Horse CEO Tim Bender. "We're honored to be part of their next game."

Endless Legend 2 relies on dynamic changes to the world map caused by cataclysmic events, tidal shifts and seasons. As with other games in the Endless series, the factions will play very differently. There will be four factions in Early Access, with two more to be added by the time the game is fully released. Product description: "Dive into Saiadha, a breathtaking yet perilous oceanic world where ever-changing seasons and monstrous tidefalls dramatically transform the landscape. As the water goes down, the environment itself becomes both an obstacle and a chance for discovery. Players will have to adapt to these constant shifts, confront ancient threats, and uncover the secrets buried deep within Saiadha. Each cataclysm brings new dangers but also unique opportunities."
