Representatives of the esports association ESBD were among the 500 guests at the game Summer Reception. They are also optimistic after Dorothee Bär's speech.

The future of games funding was certainly the most important topic for most of the 500 or so guests at the game sommer reception. However, the representatives of the German esports association ESBD, who were also in attendance, were probably more focussed on games policy in terms of esports. And they were obviously not disappointed either.

"In Dorothee Bär, we have a minister responsible for gaming and esports who has been committed to our industry for many years and has also helped to establish important cornerstones during this time," said ESBD president Christopher Flato on social media after the reception.

"It remains to be seen whether the non-profit status for esports can actually be implemented in the first 100 days of the new government. However, we have high hopes that this project will soon be finalized in order to give those involved the recognition they deserve and to regain trust with the overdue implementation of a political promise that has been made many times over," he added.
