GamesFestival25 Is All About Democracy and Games

The GamesFestival25 is taking place in Munich this weekend. This Bavaria-wide participatory event focuses on topics such as democracy education, accessibility, retro gaming, video game music and playtesting.
The Games Festival begins on Friday 30 May at 5pm at FatCat (formerly Gasteig, Kellerstraße 8a, 81667 Munich). This fifth Bavaria-wide participatory games festival continues on Saturday and Sunday. Admission is free.
While visitors can play and learn about games in workshops on the show floor, the main topic is 'Unseen Stories: Democracy and Games'. "Unseen Stories is an exhibition featuring 25 games, guided tours, workshops and lectures exploring how democratic values are negotiated within games, including in the gameplay, player interactions and development process," say the organisers. Nathalie Jacobsen from the Max Mannheimer Study Centre, Professor Clemens Hochreiter from the Fresenius University of Applied Sciences, and streamer NiniJay will be discussing democratic values in games with the audience, among others. The programme can be found here.
GamesFestival25 is organised by the ComputerSpielAkademie (CSA) and the Bayerischer Jugendring. The CSA was founded in 2019 by the JFF - Institut für Medienpädagogik Medienzentrum München and is financially supported by the Bavarian State Ministry for Family, Work and Social Affairs, the Stadtjugendamt der LH München and Games/Bavaria.
