Nintendo has officially introduced the highly anticipated Nintendo Switch 2 and announced a series of experience events set to take place in Asia, Europe, and North America in April and May. Additional details about the console will be revealed during the Nintendo Direct: Nintendo Switch 2 presentation, scheduled for April 2, 2025.

The announcement confirms rumors that have been circulating for days about the imminent presentation of the console. However, the insight Nintendo has provided into its Switch 2 plans remains limited. Instead, the announcement serves as a teaser for a more detailed Switch 2 presentation during a Nintendo Direct stream, scheduled for April 2.

As a result, many questions remain unanswered. Nintendo has not disclosed a price range for the Switch 2 or provided an approximate launch window, only confirming that the release will occur in 2025. The company has also promised at least partial backwards compatibility with existing Switch games, with more detailed information to follow at a later date. Notably, compatibility will reportedly include some physical Switch games.
