Bippinbits Receives €335.098 in Funding From the BMWE
The Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWE) is funding Tristram by Bippinbits with €335.098. This game pays homage to classic dungeon-crawling adventures.
Another German gaming project has received direct funding from the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWE). Bippinbits from Radeberg in Saxony has received €335,098. The funding period runs from 1 October 2025 to 31 May 2027.
The project is called Tristram, which, as is well known, is the name of a small town in the Sanctuary world of the Diablo series. The game's prototype was created at Ludum Dare 55 in 2024. The idea behind it is: "Did you ever wonder how the mayor of Tristram might have felt? Embark on a pixelated journey reminiscent of Diablo 1 in this thrilling 2D adventure! Enter the catacombs beneath Tristram Cathedral by summoning brave heroes to face the dangers that lurk in the depths. Assemble your own party of heroes and fight to defeat evil and recover valuable treasures. Rebuild your once destroyed city with the gold from your adventures and upgrade buildings for ever more powerful equipment." A playable version is available to download from Itch. Therefore, it can be assumed that the Game Jam project will be developed into a full game.
Bippinbits is known for Of Mice and Moggies (2021) and Dome Keeper (2022). They are currently working on PVKK: Planetenverteidigungskanonenkommandant, scheduled for release in Q3 2026. In May 2025, Kepler Interactive was announced as the publisher of the title.
