The German federal government's video game funding programme is set to provide funding to two more studios in Germany.
Limbic Entertainment, which is based in Langen in the state of Hesse, is set to receive €668,368 in funding for the "Saturn" project. This direct project funding will run from 15 March 2026 to 14 March 2027. This is the studio's third federal grant; it previously received €1.073 million for "Legend-Port" and €1.757 million for "Cove". The latter is Corsair Cove, a pirate city builder set to be released in late July 2026.
Leipzig-based Yaga Studio has been granted €158,240 in funding for Resistance 204X. This direct project funding will run from 1 April 2026 to 31 March 2027. This is the first grant for the young studio, which specialises in developing engaging XR experiences and video games. The studio describes itself as follows: “Yaga Studio draws inspiration from Slavic folklore, particularly the figure of Baba Yaga, to create unique narratives that blend traditional stories with modern technology (...)".
The Federal Ministry of Research, Technology and Space (BMFTR) provides grant funding of up to 50% for the production of video games and the development of prototypes. Depending on the size and evaluation of the project, funding typically starts at €300,000 and is provided as a non-refundable grant covering up to 50% of a project's eligible costs, with a cap of up to €8 million per project for companies that have a registered office, permanent establishment or branch office in Germany. The overall annual budget of the programme has recently increased to over €120 million, further strengthening Germany's role as a video game development hub.
