Bavaria's Minister for Digital Affairs, Dr Fabian Mehring, said: "With our current round of games funding from FFF Bayern, we are demonstrating the impressive creative energy in our state. For us in Bavaria, games have long been a key driver of technology, culture and economic innovation, as well as a rapidly growing economic sector. The fact that an increasing number of studios are developing bold and exceptional projects in our home state using cutting-edge technology confirms our successful approach and motivates us to double the funding for games next year. Bavaria is the place in Germany where creative minds find support and ideas for the future can flourish. We are continuing on this successful path and making the framework conditions for games in the Free State even more attractive than ever before."
The highest funding amount, €60,000, goes to the Bayreuth-based studio Emergo Entertainment for Train Jumble, a roguelite puzzle game in which players must arrange passengers on a train so that compatible passengers sit together, maximising satisfaction. They also rebuild and expand the train to do this.
Alea Interactive from Kempten and Thogli Studios from Fürstenfeldbruck are both receiving funding for prototype development. Alea Interactive has been awarded €40,000 for Fiets - Together, a chaotic co-op racing game in which two to four players work together to control a bicycle. Thogli Studios has been awarded €20,000 for Horses of Hoofprint Bay, a building and simulation game with cosy elements centred on horse care, breeding and farm management.
In addition, funding is being provided for five concept developments.
