Bavaria’s Minister for Digital Affairs, Dr. Fabian Mehring: “The projects in this funding round are a striking testament to the creative excellence, innovative strength, and entrepreneurial spirit of Bavaria’s games industry. They also demonstrate that Bavaria is attractive to international studios: new companies are coming to Germany, supported by established studios, bringing fresh ideas and thereby strengthening our position as a games hub in the long term. By doubling our games funding budget, we are giving Bavaria’s pixel pioneers a powerful boost and sending a strong signal of support for this dynamically growing economic sector in the Free State. This year’s first funding round is an important step toward solidifying our goal of developing Bavaria into Germany’s home for games, esports, and XR. At the same time, however, these funding checks mark only the beginning of what lies ahead for us this year. The huge turnout at GG Bavaria, with another record number of visitors, and the upcoming German Computer Game Awards in Munich demonstrate the appeal that Bavaria has now developed as a hub for games. We are consistently continuing on this path to success and creating the best conditions for fresh ideas to thrive in new markets here in Bavaria!”
