NRW Funds Seven Games With €1,03m

In its first funding round under new MD Walid Nakschbandi, the Film- und Medienstiftung NRW supports seven games with 1,03 million euros total. All four prototypes present have been funded in earlier stages as well. One of the studios is Critical Rabbit, four-time DCP nominee at tomorrow's award show.
The Film- und Medienstiftung NRW is funding seven games and VR projects with 1,03 million euros in the current funding round. The funding session for digital games and interactive content took place for the first time under the chairmanship of Filmstiftung Managing Director Walid Nakschbandi. The new Managing Director of the Film- und Medienstiftung NRW says: "The current funding round once again demonstrates the creativity and innovative strength of the games industry in North Rhine-Westphalia. We will continue to intensively support the creative minds in the industry. Funding for the games and VR sector is a focus area of the Film- und Medienstiftung - our aim is to support the best and most innovative ideas and to keep NRW as the No. 1 games location in Germany."

All four projects and game series have previously received prototype funding from the Film- und Medienstiftung NRW.

The Film- und Medienstiftung supports the NRW games industry with 3.5 million euros annually. A separate pilot programme to promote serious games and gamification was added in 2023.
