Honeycomb Heads to Lelystad with New Products, Repenning with New Company
Just before GDC the flight simulation community is set for an important and probably tense FlightSim Weekend in Lelystad, Netherlands. Honeycomb Aeronautical plans to unveil several new products. Meanwhile, former Honeycomb CEO Nicki Repenning has announced the debut of his new company, Meridian GMT, along with its product roadmap.
This potential encounter carries extra weight, as Honeycomb Aeronautical's parent company, snakebyte, and Repenning did not part on good terms. Both parties have confirmed their attendance at the event and plan to introduce new products. Honeycomb will showcase four new devices: Sierra TPM Module, Foxtrot Aviation Stick, Alpha Flight Controls Lite, and Bravo Throttle Quadrant Lite. The company remains focused on the products themselves.
"We’re overjoyed to be able to unveil four groundbreaking new Honeycomb Aeronautical products at the upcoming FlightSim Weekend and can’t wait to showcase them to visitors attending the show. This brand-new hardware has been designed with our community in mind—focusing on quality, innovation, and, with our new Lite range, preserving the quality Honeycomb is famous for while ensuring outstanding value for those taking flight for the first time. Our new products reinforce our commitment to growing the Honeycomb brand and delivering best-in-class hardware for the flight simulation community," says Michael Auer, Head of Global Sales & Marketing at Honeycomb Aeronautical.
A key date to watch is March 16, when Nicki Repenning is expected to present Meridian GMT and its product roadmap at FS Weekend. "Meridian GMT is more than a brand, it is a commitment to the flight sim community," said Nicki. "Our core values of innovation, precision, durability and affordability are at the heart of everything we do." So far, no details about the products have been disclosed. However, the history between Repenning and Honeycomb Aeronautical remains contentious.
Repenning was Honeycomb’s CEO for years and was widely believed to be the brand’s founder—until snakebyte publicly denied this, stating that Repenning never owned shares in the company. While details remain unclear, reports suggest a legal dispute, though GamesMarkt has no official confirmation. What is certain is that Repenning and Honeycomb parted ways last year under tense circumstances. Let’s hope FlightSim Weekend doesn’t turn into FightSim Weekend.
