Little Nightmares Franchise Surpasses 20 Million Copies Sold, Release Date for the Third Game Confirmed
The Little Nightmares franchise has become hugely important for Bandai Namco Entertainment. This year will see the release of Little Nightmares III, the Enhanced Edition of Little Nightmares, a VR game, and a variety of cross-media projects.
Little Nightmares has become a popular and successful franchise from Bandai Namco Entertainment, with over 20 million copies sold since the release of the first game in 2017. Fittingly, the publisher has confirmed that Little Nightmares III, developed by Supermassive Games (creators of Until Dawn and The Dark Pictures Anthology), will be released on 10 October 2025 for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Switch 2, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S.
There are several editions of Little Nightmares III available to pre-order: The Standard Edition; the Digital Deluxe Edition, which includes the Secrets of the Spiral Expansion Pass and the Residents Costume Pack; the Collector's Mirror Edition, which includes all the Digital Deluxe Edition content plus a collectible figurine, a metal case (Steelbook), a physical art book, a digital and physical soundtrack, and a sticker set; and the Premium Collector's Spiral Edition, which will be available exclusively at the Bandai Namco Store. This includes all the Mirror Edition contents, plus an upgraded figurine with a music box base, a gnome controller or mobile phone holder and a double-sided coin featuring the Low and Alone characters. The Secrets of The Spiral - Expansion Pass includes two additional chapters.
On the same day as the release of Little Nightmares III, Little Nightmares: Enhanced Edition will also be launched for PC, PlayStation 5, Switch and Xbox Series X/S. This revamped version of the original game features technical enhancements such as volumetric lighting and ray tracing, as well as gameplay improvements like better checkpoint placement and additional aids to enable a wider audience to embark on Six's adventure. In addition, a new title from the universe was announced during the Little Nightmares Showcase: Little Nightmares VR: Altered Echoes, which is currently in development at Iconic Studio.
Little Nightmares is expanding beyond video games with new projects encompassing various media formats, including comics and podcasts. The Sound of Nightmares, a podcast series which has been listened to over two million times, will receive a second season, which is currently being written. The first issue of Little Nightmares: Descent to Nowhere, a comic book series from Titan Comics, is set to be released in October 2025. Little Nightmares: The Lonely Ones, a young adult horror novel by E.C. Myers published by Scholastic, is due to be released in September 2025. There is also a stop-motion project in development in collaboration with Taller del Chucho studio.
