Bavaria is Funding XR Projects with €390,000
At the latest FFF Bavaria funding meeting for XR, a total of seven applications were approved. The projects receiving support demonstrate why it makes sense to promote XR as a separate category, as it is neither film nor gaming.
Five production grants and two project development grants – that is the result of the latest award meeting in the XR sector of the FFF Bayern. The seven applications that were approved by the committee will receive a total of 390,000 euros. These projects are yet another good example of why it makes sense for Bavaria and the FFF to create a separate category for XR instead of integrating funding into their film or games funding programmes.
The range of projects is astonishing, spanning Reynard Films' documentary architectural mixed reality experience Atmosphere, QM Interactive's virtual X-ray training in dentistry, which is more akin to a serious game, and Tellux next's interactive sci-fi VR experience To Mars?
The Atmosphere project is the first XR project to be directed by Wim Wenders. It also receives the most extensive support, with 90,000 euros.
