Chimera Entertainment and ergofox benefit from federal funding for computer and video games. Chimera will receive almost one million euros for downloadable content. ergofox will receive almost 70,000 euros for the prototype of an exergame.

The German Federal Ministry of Economics and Climate Protection has announced two more grants for computer and video games. Nearly one million euros, or 952,180 to be exact, will go to Chimera Entertainment. The Munich-based company will use the funds for an expansion or downloadable content for the yet-to-be-released "Songs of Silence". "Songs of Silence is a strategy game whose story takes place in two fantasy worlds threatened by the all-devouring silence. Explore the land and build your kingdom. Raise mighty armies and win in short and intense real-time battles," is how the studio describes its title. By the way, "Songs of Silence" was not supported before the federal funding. So far, Chimera Entertainment has received 1,492,238 euros for "Realms At War". That was at the beginning of 2021.

The Volksfestspiel prototype by ergofox from Hamburg will receive 69,569 euros. The aim is to develop a prototype of an exergame, i.e. a game that requires physical movements and reactions. The team speaks of an "innovative AI-supported 1:1 movement control". Players will experience folk festivals from the German and European cultural area. "Each folk festival represents its own mini-game in which classic folk festivals are played as a web-based exergame," they add.

Both applications were received by the BMWK before the freeze on federal funding applications. Due to the freeze, no new applications can be submitted at the moment. We have compiled all federal funding from 2023 in the continuously updated list.
