In addition to Vice Chancellor Robert Habeck, other high-ranking political guests have been confirmed for gamescom 2024. State premiers, other federal and state ministers and an international delegation are among the expected to attend.

As well as being a must-attend event for the industry and gamers, gamescom 2024 will also be a showcase for politics. Following the announcement that Vice Chancellor and Federal Minister of Economics Robert Habeck will be opening the trade fair, more prominent politicians have now been announced who are planning to visit gamescom. Two state premiers, Hendrik Wüst of North Rhine-Westphalia and Alexander Schweitzer of Rhineland-Palatinate, have already been announced, as well as Bettina Stark-Watzinger, another federal minister (education and research).

Numerous state politicians are also expected to attend. Already confirmed for gamescom 2024 are Fabian Mehring, Bavaria's Minister for Digital Affairs, Franziska Giffey, Berlin's Senator for Economics, Energy and Public Affairs, and Nathanael Liminski, North Rhine-Westphalia's Minister for Federal and European Affairs, International Affairs and Media and Head of the State Chancellery.

According to the game and Koelnmesse, more names will be added. As last year, a delegation from Brussels is also expected. Details are not yet available as preparations are still underway. In 2023, the EU delegation consisted of around 70 people. Experience shows that other ministers, secretaries of state and politicians from other countries will also be present, often to visit their respective national pavilions. This year there are 43 of them, from 33 different countries. As the organisers are not informed about every visit well in advance, game and Koelnmesse were unable to provide any information on further planned visits by international politicians at this stage.
