A Maze Pink Breakfast Opens Berlin's Political gamescom Programme
With Berlin Senate Chancellery Head Florian Graf, A Maze's Thorsten Wiedemann and the Medienboard management, the A Maze Pink Breakfast kicked off Berlin's political engagement at gamescom. Graf ensured that the funding for the House of Games was secured. The participants of the third The Rabbit residency were also announced.
At the Pink Breakfast on gamescom Wednesday, organised by A Maze, politics took center stage. Head of the Senate Chancellery of Berlin Florian Graf opened the booth in Hall 10.2 with a speech, followed by a small discussion round with Thorsten Wiedemann, head of A Maze, and Anna Vielhaber, leader of the New Media Funding department at Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg. Medienboard MD Helge Jürgens also said a few words about the success of the capital region’s game efforts.
“Games are a strategical topic”, said Graf, and he ensured that the funding for the House of Games in Berlin was secured. Growth of gaming studios in the region was exponential, he said. Graf also reminded the audience about the Internation Computer Game Collection that is being built in Berlin with the help of USK, Computerspielemuseum and others.
Wiedemann ensured the commitment of A Maze to what he called Arthouse Games. A Maze will now look for funding to support developers of arthouse niche games, and a book about them is to be published at the end of 2024.
