In addition to the renaming, the tickets for gamescom dev are probably the most important change this year at the developer conference, which officially kicks off gamescom week. This is because gamescom dev is now fully integrated into the trade fair's ticket system. Instead of separate tickets, all gamescom dev tickets are now included in the new 5-day gamescom ticket. This means that all visitors to the conference have the opportunity to attend the regular gamescom until Friday.
What was somewhat overlooked at the start of gamescom ticket sales is that the 5-day ticket is available in different versions, all of which are available in the Early Bird Sale until the end of March. The variants regulate different access levels.
The cheapest option is the student ticket for £103 in the Early Bird sale. This also gives registered students not only access to gamescom dev, but also business access to gamescom from Wednesday to Friday. The other variants of the 5-day ticket are: Basic, Content, Trade and VIP. The Basic ticket grants admission to the exhibition and community side events. The Content ticket also offers access to the lectures, and the Trade ticket opens up the meeting system, exclusive services and business side events. The VIP ticket includes curated events on the day before the conference starts as well as access to the Speakers and VIP Lounge.
Parallel to ticket sales, the organisers of gamescom dev have also launched a competition for discounted spots at the gamescom dev indie expo. A total of 24 studios can secure a discounted spot thanks to sponsorship funds. Specifically, a spot at the gamescom dev indie expo will then cost only £299 instead of £1,499. Applications for such a discounted spot can be submitted until 10 April. The selection and notification will then take place by 23 April.
