In a newsletter, Koelnmesse has warned about fraudulent calls and emails in which scammers pose as gamescom employees. Suspicious invoices should not be paid but forwarded to Koelnmesse via email.

Fraudsters are apparently trying to exploit gamescom for financial gain. The event organizers have used a newsletter to inform recipients about fraudulent calls and emails currently circulating. Criminals are impersonating gamescom employees and sending fake invoices that closely resemble official ones. Their apparent goal is to trick companies into making payments to fraudulent bank accounts.

In its newsletter, Koelnmesse clarifies that it does not offer discounts over the phone or request urgent payments.

"If you receive a suspicious invoice: Do not pay! Please forward the email immediately to the gamescom team at [email protected] so that we can investigate and take legal action if necessary," the gamescom newsletter states.

For any questions or concerns, please contact the gamescom team directly.
