XR Companies Cooperate for Home of XR Megabooth and VR Showcase

Eight XR studios have announced a new, themed joint stand for gamescom: Home of XR Megabooth. Limited space is still available for additional partners. The studios also collaborate on a video showcase dedicated to VR gaming.
There will be a new Megabooth at gamescom. Vertigo Games, nDreams, Fast Travel Games, Soul Assembly, Combat Waffle Studios, Beyond Frames Entertainment, Flat2VR Studios and Patient 8 Games will be exhibiting under one roof this year as the Home of XR Megabooth. The booth, which will also showcase titles that have not yet been announced, can be found in the gamescom business area.
"We’re finally entering an era where AAA gaming is becoming the norm in headsets – and with so many of the industry’s best studios coming together to showcase their upcoming titles in one place, visitors to the Home of XR will be blown away by how much VR gaming has grown since their last time at Gamescom," said Maeva Sponbergs, Head of Publishing at Beyond Frames. "Whether you’re looking for major beloved IP from the world of core gaming, brand new experiences, or continuations of established VR franchises, this collective of studios is bringing it all together under one roof to demonstrate the breadth of experiences gamers can have in VR this holiday season."
According to the organisers, there will be limited space for additional partners on the joint stand. A limited number of XR content creators will also be able to attend gamescom through some kind of sponsorship of the Home of XR booth. But that's not all: the studios also plan to collaborate on a new video showcase. As with the familiar formats, this will showcase upcoming games, but will be dedicated to VR gaming. Details will be announced in the near future.
Although not specifically mentioned, the Indie Megabooth (IMB) is likely to be the model for the Home of XR Megabooth. Initiated by Kelly Wallick, the IMB made its debut at Pax East 2012, proving that even small indie studios can make a big impact at shows by working together. The IMB also made a guest appearance at gamescom many years ago, but back then there was already the Indie Arena Booth (IAB), founded by Hamburg-based Super Crowd Entertainment and modelled on the IMB when it was limited to US shows. Today, the IAB is still one of two large indie stands at gamescom. The other indie booth is, in name at least, reminiscent of the new XR joint presentation. It is called: Home of Indies.
