Geoff Keighley himself announced the news of the partnership on social media. However, the host and creator of The Game Awards emphasizes that the deal with Amazon and Prime Video will not change the existing streaming partnerships. The Game Awards will continue to be streamed live for free on YouTube, Twitch, Steam, and via 30 global partners.

The fact that Prime Video now also wants to broadcast the awards ceremony live is a new milestone because, unlike music or film awards, game awards ceremonies were not interesting content for TV providers. For Amazon as the operator of Prime Video, the combination as a retail partner is also likely to be particularly interesting. Amazon is considered one of the most important sales channels worldwide for physical games, consoles, and accessories. Until the end of the year, special offers will also be available at amazon.com/gameawards.

The Game Awards 2025 will be presented on December 11. Although the awards are among the most important in the industry worldwide, many also follow the awards ceremony because of the numerous new announcements that are made during the stream.

Geoff Keighley established The Game Awards many years ago as the second most important date for new product launches alongside E3, which has since been discontinued. Keighley, who also produces and hosts Opening Night Live at gamescom, is attempting to fill the gap left by the discontinuation of E3 with the Summer Games Fest.
