The Games Lift Incubator, the support programme of Gamecity Hamburg, has entered the next round. Five development teams will be supported financially and in many aspects of game development. The recently opened Space Innovation Room in Speicherstadt will be used.

The Games Lift Incubator 2023 of Gamecity Hamburg started on 11 September 2023 in the new "SPACE Innovationsraum" of the Hamburg Kreativ Gesellschaft. Five game projects and five development teams have qualified for the funding programme.

They will receive financial support of 15,000 euros and support in the realisation of their projects in the form of workshops and individual coaching by mentors. Industry contacts, marketing support from a PR agency and access to a space to work on their games are also part of the programme.

The five teams in the 2023 Games Lift Incubator are:

  • "Chaos Royale" by Monodot
  • "Dottobeau" by Dottobeau
  • "Journey Beyond the Edge of the World" by Markus Koepke
  • "Map Map - A game about maps" by Pipapo Games
  • "We the Valarii" by Bagpack Games

After getting to know each other, the teams also met their five mentors, who will support them in different areas during their development process. The five mentors of the Games Lift Incubator 2023 are Björn Bergstein (Coach & Consultant for Management and Leadership at Bergstein Consulting), Daniel Marx (CEO & Game Director at Osmotic Studios), Manny Hachey (COO and Business Development Manager at Threaks), Søren Lass (Business Development Consultant) and Steffen Rühl (Managing Director at ruehl:gameconsult).

The Games Lift Incubator 2023 is Gamecity Hamburg's first event to use the recently opened Space Innovationsraum in Hamburg's Speicherstadt. Located on the seventh floor, the Space offers over 600 square metres of modularly designed space for creatives and partner companies from the Hanseatic city to collaborate. "Both individuals and teams can rent conference rooms, individual workstations or even a recording studio for podcast recordings to work in a relaxed, professional atmosphere and network with other Hamburg creatives," writes Gamecity Hamburg. "Regular events in the space also offer inspiring impulses and the opportunity to exchange ideas; the next focus topic is all about artificial intelligence."

The Space is a project of the Hamburg Kreativ Gesellschaft and nextMedia.Hamburg. The Space's partners include Rocket Beans Entertainment, Meta, Snap and Google. In addition to the five Games Lift teams, Super Crowd Entertainment is also using the space as part of the Workspace funding for start-ups.

The Games Lift Incubator 2023 kicked off for the participating teams with a first meeting of mentors, networking partners, the Gamecity team and each other in a relaxed atmosphere. Jan-Marius Komorek/Gamecity Hamburg
