Die Spielefirma Activision verpflichtete für die englischsprachige Vertonung des Actiontitels "True Crime: New York City" namhafte Hollywood-Größen.

Die Rolle der Hauptfigur Marcus Reed wird von Nachwuchsschauspieler Avery Waddell gesprochen. An seiner Seite gibt Charakterdarsteller Christopher Walken den FBI-Agenten Gabriel Whitting, während die Rolle des Bösewichts an "Matrix"-Star Laurence Fishburne fällt.

Ferner übernehmen Mickey Rourke und Erotik-Ikone Traci Lords Sprechrollen im Spiel. Die spannende Hintergrundgeschichte von "True Crime" entstand übrigens unter tatkräftiger Mithilfe von Bill Clark, einem ehemaligen Polizeibeamten und Executive Producer der TV-Serie "NYPD Blue".
