Hooded Horse Acquires Publishing Rights to Shadow Gambit From Mimimi Games
US publisher Hooded Horse is taking over the publishing rights to Shadow Gambit: The Cursed Crew from Mimimi Games. The publisher, which specialises in strategy games, is looking forward to helping the game achieve "the long-term success it deserves".
Hooded Horse has partnered with Mimimi Games to publish Shadow Gambit: The Cursed Crew from now on - the final game from the Munich-based studio, which announced its closure in August 2023. The deal includes long-term publishing support for PC and consoles. No further updates are planned, as the game has already reached its "final form". So far, Mimimi Games has self-published the game.
"We are honored and humbled that Mimimi chose us to be a part of Shadow Gambit's journey," says Hooded Horse CEO Tim Bender. "This game is the pinnacle of stealth strategy games, and we're looking forward to helping it maintain the long-term success it deserves." Shadow Gambit will be integrated into the publisher's standard suite of services for its published titles.
"Shadow Gambit is in its final form, and we're excited to be partnering with Hooded Horse for its ongoing commercial needs," says Mimimi Co-Founder Johannes Roth. "We're very impressed by their approach to indie publishing and are confident they will help the game reach even more players." Founded by Dominik Abé and Johannes Roth, Mimimi Games developed games between 2008 and 2023. The studio is known for Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun (2016) and Desperados III (2020), as well as Shadow Gambit: The Cursed Crew (2023).
Released in August 2023, Shadow Gambit: The Cursed Crew is a stealth strategy game set in a fantastical vision of the Caribbean and the age of piracy. Players take control of a cursed ghost ship with a living soul and assemble a cursed pirate crew to search for the mysterious treasure of the legendary Captain Mordechai. In December 2023, the game received two DLC packs - Zagan's Ritual and Yuki's Wish - which can be purchased individually or via the game's Complete Edition. The game is localised from English into German (including audio), French, Spanish, Italian, Polish, Turkish, Russian, Brazilian Portuguese, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, Korean and Japanese.
