The medieval strategy RPG Kinstrife, developed by the German company Finitude, is the latest addition to Hooded Horse's portfolio of strategic and tactical games. Created by former modders from the Mount & Blade community, Kinstrife is a non-linear medieval sandbox game set in 13th-century Germany. Taking on the role of a wandering knight, players journey across the land to build wealth, secure followers, and carve out a noble destiny in a time of strife.

"Kinstrife is exactly the kind of game we want in the portfolio," says Hooded Horse CEO Tim Bender. "A sandbox open world with this level of attention to detail, where you can truly lose yourself in the fantasy - we're thrilled for the chance to serve as publisher."

"Kinstrife has been our passion project for a long time," says Finitude co-founder Christoph Rüger. "Finding the right partner for the years ahead was hugely important to us."

"We've wanted to work with Hooded Horse from the moment we set out to find a publisher," adds co-founder Khaya Ludidi. "Their passion shows in how they curate games and give unique projects a chance to shine, which makes this partnership feel completely natural, and we're incredibly excited to take the project to the next level together."

Hooded Horse is a publisher of strategic and tactical games. Its portfolio includes Manor Lords, Against the Storm, Endless Legend 2, Old World, Norland and 9 Kings. The US-based company has a catalogue of over 50 titles and has many more planned for release in 2026. These include the Early Access releases of Nova Roma, a Roman city builder, on 26 March, and Mars Tactics in May, as well as the Early Access release of Heroes of Might and Magic: Olden Era. The latter is on over a million wishlists.

Another Hooded Horse game is ready to graduate from Early Access: Xenonauts 2. This old-school, X-COM-style tactics game from Goldhawk Interactive is set to launch on 2 April 2026 on Steam, GOG and the Epic Games Store. In the game, players will lead a multinational organisation in a stalwart defence of Earth during an escalating alien invasion. Since its initial launch in July 2023, the game has had a successful early access run, with 160,000 copies sold and six major updates released.

Game description: "Become a Knight Errant and journey through an immersive landscape set on the banks of the Rhine, filled with castles, monasteries, villages, and forests. Travel with sword and servants in tow, building up skills, renown, and wealth to grow a loyal retinue. Fight in realistic medieval battles using the simulated physics engine, engage in duels, and even take part in tournaments to win fame and riches."

This trailer was released more than two years ago to announce the game.
