Indies United Offering is Offering Booths at "Indie Castle" on gamescom
Under the new brand Indies United, Insomnia Dev is building a whole castle at gamescom as a new indie booth in Hall 10. Booth space is still available, prices are transparent. A new livestream under the brand is planned as well.
This knight builds his own castles: Insomnia MD and founder Mike Tkacz is the head behind the construction of the Indie Castle (Mike Tkacz)
Insomnia Development, the game studio of founder Mike Tkacz, is not just making the strategy game Spriggan. At gamescom, they are also building a whole castle: As a new indie booth concept in Hall 10, the castle will be a new landmark booth for the countless indies looking to present their games at the biggest gaming fair in the world.
Booth concept as seen on the Insomnia website (Insomnia)
The castle booth is built by Tkacz and managed by Johanna Sennefelder and offers several booth versions on the outside of the walls and the inside of the yard. Booth prices start at 800€ for a single desktop space and go up to 2,350€ for more deliberate and bigger booth designs (both excluding a starting fee and optional service costs). That puts the Indie Castle at the lower and mid range of booth prices for indies in the hall for studios that have to pay their space themself. All details can be find on the website. Interest and initial calls can be expressed through the Insomnia Discord Server or via email to [email protected].
The booth plan and booking concepts (Insomnia)
The Indie Castle is presented under the new brand Indies United, which will also be the title of an accompanying YouTube and Twitch livestream that will run through the five days of gamescom and present the games at the stand.
"Our goal is to empower indie-studios like ourselves. We manage the entire process from admin, to marketing, as well as construction and on-site support. This enables us to offer both affordable prices and custom solutions for those who seek a more unique approach to Gamescom," says Managing Director Tkacz. "Sizes and prices are as shown in the mock-up. Generally, the booths are 75–100 cm wide and 300 cm high. The prices are as follows: there is always a €500 registration fee, after which you are free to choose any combination of spaces. The only additional hardware cost would be €150 for a 27-inch monitor, a noise-cancelling headset, a mouse and a keyboard. You can also bring your own PC to save costs for the indie developers. All other services, such as booking apartments or a parking permit, always follow the same formula: base cost + 20%. The 20% is essentially what we charge as a ‘service fee’. We believe this is the most transparent approach."
