The E-Sport-Bund Deutschland has published its first industry report, produced in collaboration with PwC Deutschland and the Hochschule für angewandtes Management. Entitled 'The E-Sport Report 2025', the report highlights the markets and potential of the German esports industry.

The E-Sport-Bund Deutschland (ESBD; German E-Sports Federation) has published its inaugural industry report. The report also examines stakeholders, the economic impact of esports, its league and tournament landscape, and sponsorship, as well as grassroots esports. The E-Sports Report 2025 is available to download free of charge.

"As a university specialising in applied management, we are proud to have helped shape this first German esports report as an academic partner. The result is a report for the industry - and, above all, with the industry. Real collaboration, real community, and lots of fun! Thank you to everyone who made this project possible. We are already looking forward to the sequel in 2026," said Prof. Dr. Anna Löchner (Hochschule für angewandtes Management) regarding the report's completion.

Julia Wilner, Gaming & Esports Lead at PwC Germany, said: "At PwC, our goal is to professionalise esports in Germany in the long term, creating stable structures that will benefit the entire scene. We are therefore delighted to present the Esports Report 2025, created in collaboration with the ESBD and HAM. This report provides in-depth, data-driven insights into various aspects of German esports, forming a solid basis for the future development of the industry."

Christopher Flato, President of the ESBD, summarises: "With this report, we aim to support all stakeholders in developing esports in Germany together, based on reliable data and in a transparent manner, with the ultimate goal of becoming a responsible and leading esports nation."

Guest contributions on the event and professional sectors and the big picture of esports were provided by Ralf Reichert (CEO of the Esports World Cup Foundation) and Alexander Müller (CEO of SK Gaming). Also included are the perspectives of Prof. Dr. Tobias Scholz, Professor of Academic Esports at the University of Agder in Norway, who views esports as a future laboratory for developing new markets; and Marius Loewe, President of the State Association for E-Sports in North Rhine-Westphalia, who discusses the opportunities for society and the establishment of fixed structures for esports.
