Pocket Gamer Mobile Games Awards Move to Gamescom in Cologne
Several companies from Germany, Austria and Switzerland have been nominated for this year's Pocket Gamer Mobile Games Awards. Voting runs until 22 July and the awards will be presented for the first time in Cologne on the eve of gamescom.
Alongside gamescom Opening Night Live, there will be another B2B event highlight in Cologne this year: for the first time, the Pocket Gamer Mobile Games Awards (MGA) will be held in Cologne on the eve of gamescom, rather than in London. The gala event will take place at the Gürzenich and tickets can be purchased now.
As tickets go on sale, preparations for the event are in full swing. The nominations have been announced and voting is open until 22 July. Many studios from Germany, Switzerland and Austria (GSA) are among the nominees in the 20 categories.
Nominees in the Best Indie Developer category include BAD Spiele Studio, Mucks! Spiele and Tinytouchtales from Germany. Miniclip Games from Switzerland is nominated for Best Publisher, Exit Games' Photon Engine is nominated for Best Tool Provider, and Wooga and their media bodies can hope for recognition for their June's Journey 6th Year campaign in the Best PR/Marketing Team category.
Last but not least, Berlin-based Kolibri Games and Switzerland's FunPlus are up against each other twice. Both studios are nominated for Best Developer. And their productions Idle Bank Tycoon: Money Empire and Sea of Conquest are competing in the Game of the Year category. However, they face strong competition in both categories. Niantic with Monster Hunter Now and Scopely with Monopoly Go are also competing in these categories, to name just two of their rivals.
