A total of just over €6 million was awarded at the third funding meeting of 2025 by the Mitteldeutsche Medienförderung (MDM; Central German Media Promotio Funding Agency). Most of the money will naturally go toward the development and production of traditional audiovisual media, but about 10% funding commitments were also made for gaming and XR projects.
In the area of production funding, there were two commitments for XR projects. The Wim Wenders project Atmosphere by Reynard Film, which had already received federal funding, was awarded €300,000. Meanwhile, €45,000 was awarded to Liberty of Dreams by Abduct Media in the area of new media production for young talent.
In the New Media – Young Talent project development category, one funding commitment was made: Polynormal Games will receive €94,000 for Oil is Thicker Than Water.
Most of the approvals for games were in the concept development category. Approvals went to Karsten Grünberg for Orbit Girls (working title), as well as in the New Talent category to Ectoplastic for Drasta – Geister der Kleider (working title), Enchoi Games for Ec(h)osystem, Bitaggregat for Hacking Tycoon (working title), WeLoveApps for Mission Pudel – Zurück ins Jetzt (Mission Poodle – Back to the Present) and Ritter und Kinback for Skat Master Adventures. All concept fundings were granted the maximum amount of €30,000.
