"Emperor" and "Wallace & Gromit": German-Funded XR Productions Nominated for Emmy
Not only the big screen is being honoured at the 76th Emmys, VR glasses are also being considered. Two MDM, FFF Bayern and Medienboard-funded XR productions from Germany, "Emperor" by Atlas V and Reynard Films and "Wallace & Gromit In The Grand Getaway" by Atlas V, Reynard and Meta, are nominated in the ‘Outstanding Emerging Media Programme’.
In the Emmy category ‘Outstanding Emerging Media Programme’ in 2024, two extended reality (XR) projects with German funding are nominated in addition to the film formats. "Wallace and Gromit" and "Emperor" were both produced in Germany.
"Emperor" was produced by Atlas V, Reynard Films, France Télévisions with Albyon and directed by Marion Burger and Ilan Cohen. FilmFernsehFonds Bayern supported the film with 100,000 euros from the XR funding programme, Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg provided 50,000 euros and financed the exhibition of "Emperor" at the Venice Immersive Festival 2023. "Emperor" was also exhibited at the NewImage Festival in April 2024 and at Cannes Immersive.
"Wallace & Gromit In The Grand Getaway" was produced by Atlas V, Aardman, Meta with No Ghost and Albyon in coproduction with Reynard Films. The screenplay was written by Finbar Hawkins and directed by Finbar Hawkins and Bram Ttwheam. The FFF Bayern also supported this film with 100,000 euros, as well as MDM - Middle German Media Funding, who supported with an additional 90,000 euros.
