Since 2021, the state of Rhineland-Palatinate has been promoting audiovisual media and games through the RLP Media Fund. The submission phase for the ninth round of funding since the fund was launched closed at the end of October. A total of 77 funding applications were submitted in the current round, with a volume of almost 2.5 million Euros. The available budget is 660,000 Euro. In the games sector, there were ten submissions with a total application amount of 413,000 Euro.

The number of projects that will ultimately receive funding will be decided on December 9. For the first time, two juries – one for games and one for audiovisual media – will deliberate independently on the applications. The games jury consists of six members, while the jury for audiovisual media has seven members.

"Media funding in Rhineland-Palatinate has celebrated many successes in recent months – and has attracted attention both nationally and internationally. Interest in our funding programs remains very high. With the new, independent juries for audiovisual media and games, we are pooling expertise from both areas in a targeted manner. In this way, we are creating the best conditions for further promoting creative diversity in the state and consolidating Rhineland-Palatinate as a strong media location," says State Secretary Heike Raab, Chair of the Supervisory Board of Medienförderung Rheinland-Pfalz.

Verena Schmidt, Managing Director of Medienförderung RLP, adds: "With stable demand, new jury structures, and intensive networking, Medienförderung Rheinland-Pfalz is proving that it is on the right track. Creative diversity, professional quality, and partnership-based cooperation are driving the media location forward – Rhineland-Palatinate is growing and networking. Progress, professionalization, and networking will remain the central themes of our work in the future."
