Metaroot and Old Cake Factory, two Swiss companies, have launched Goblin Sushi on PC (Steam), iOS and Android via Early Access on 9 February 2026.
Following a successful demo with almost 100,000 players, Goblin Sushi has been released on 9 February 2026. It is planned to remain in Early Access for at least one year.
The game has started on Steam with a CCU count of 573, making it Metaroot's second-best launch in that regard after The Farmer Was Replaced.
In the roguelike restaurant action sim Goblin Sushi, players take on the role of a goblin with a dream: to become a sushi chef. They upgrade the restaurant, menu and ingredients to create the best and most expensive sushi that any goblin could find.
Old Cake Factory describes the idea behind Goblin Sushi as follows: "The idea for Goblin Sushi came into our minds, when we were talking about old flash games we liked, when we realized we shared a passion for stressful micro-management cooking games. After that we knew we wanted to make it even more chaotic, which is why we combined it with rogue-like upgrade and progression mechanics. And the goblins just happened after that."
The tiny Swiss publisher Metaroot recently had a major success with The Farmer Was Replaced, which was developed by the solo developer Timon Herzog. Read our postmortem to find out more about this underserved niche and the importance of communication and information sharing.
