Auf einer gemeinsamen Pressekonferenz in der japanischen Hauptstadt haben Microsofts COO Richard Belluzo und Microsofts Japan-Präsident Shinichiro Ata erstmals die Onlinepläne für die Xbox konkretisiert.

Jeweils ein halbes Jahr nach dem US- und Japan-Start soll das Xbox-Online-Gaming-Network ans Netz gehen. Diese Pläne Microsofts haben COO Richard Belluzo und Japan-Präsident Shinichiro Ata heute Morgen auf einer gemeinsamen Pressekonferenz in Tokio bestätigt. Microsoft reagierte damit auf die Ankündigung Sonys, in Zusammenarbeit mit NTT Broadband der PS2 in Japan bis zum April nächsten Jahres ein ähnliches Netzwerk zu spendieren. "Wir haben immer gesagt, dass der Onlineservice für die Xbox in den USA sechs Monate nach dem Launch starten wird. Selbiges können wir nun auch für Japan bestätigen", sagte Hirohisa Oura, Managing Director Xbox Operations Japan, auf der Konferenz. Über Microsofts Onlinepläne in Europa wurde nichts bekannt.
