Monster Hunter Wilds will combine the open gameplay of World with the movement options of Rise. Fans are especially looking forward to the new interactions between big huntable wyverns.

Monster Hunter is back in force! And this time, Capcom continues the trajectory that brought millions of new players in contact with the time-honored series: A true successor to Monster Hunter World. The open map, high polish console title had made monster hunting vastly more accessible, and its pretty graphics and beautiful world design helped popularise the series that was mostly known as a time-intensive hobby for hardcore gamers before into the mass success it is: To date, Monster Hunter World is Capcoms most successful sales title of all time, with more than 20.5 million sold units. Part of the fascination also stems from the fact that for the first time, players were able to see big monsters interact in handcrafted territorial fighting animations that could be used for the hunter‘s advantage or just watched in peace like a digital biologist.

Rank number two in Capcom‘s Platinum ranking goes to another title of the wyvern butchering game series: Monster Hunter Rise, with 15.4 million units since its launch in 2021. An incredible success in itself, Rise was constructed to run on Nintendo Switch and only later ported to other consoles, making the scope of its levels vastly smaller and the graphics less vibrant than those in World. While Rise was a huge success and has many fans, only with Wilds is Capcom now returning to the formula of World, while incorporating the USP of Rise: Open vertical movement in the form of a grappling hook, or rather, grappling bug.

As a story successor to Worlds and with a huge open world to explore on foot or rideable mounts, players can already expect dozens if not hundreds of hours of content when the game drops in 2025. Several updates with more monsters and challenges like the so called G-Rank quests in earlier games are to be expected after the release. World, after all, not only got quest updates and crossovers with other Capcom games and even Square Enix‘s Final Fantasy XIV, but a whole full-scale (pun intended) add-on with Iceborne that added more monsters and story quests. Most Capcom titles are hit candidates nowadays, but Monster Hunter Wilds, as the successor to the top title of the publisher‘s modern catalogue, will presumably become the mega hit of the year when it releases.

Monster Hunter Wilds releases in 2025.

Conclusion

Capcom has the success formula on hands to top their ranking with a third Monster Hunter title – Wilds is set to be fantastic.
