German gaming YouTuber Paluten is teaming up with Odeon Fiction and Toon2Tango to bring an animated theatrical film based on his popular web series Paluten Freedom to cinemas. Paluten, real name Patrick Mayer, is directly involved in the scriptwriting process for the movie, which is set to be released by Leonine Studios in 2027.

Odeon Fiction has secured the film rights to the successful Paluten Freedom web series and is co-producing a family-friendly animated feature with Toon2Tango. Scheduled for release by Leonine Studios in 2027, this collaboration aims to expand the Paluten Freedom universe, which Mayer created. With 5.46 million subscribers, Mayer's YouTube channel is the largest gaming platform in the German-speaking world.

Beyond the YouTube series, which now spans over 380 episodes, Paluten Freedom also includes a nine-part bestselling book series with over 1.8 million copies sold, as well as a comic. Based on this extensive IP, Odeon Fiction and Toon2Tango are crafting an animated film adventure with new stories from the Paluten Freedom world, featuring its well-loved and humorous characters like Paluten, Edgar the pig, Professor Duck, Dieter, Karla, Captain Schmierhose, and Evil Paluten.

The script is a collaborative effort between Paluten (Patrick Mayer) and Klaas Kern, continuing their creative partnership from the book series. The animated film is being produced by Odeon Fiction, a Leonine Studios company, in co-production with Toon2Tango, also part of Leonine Animation Studios. The agreement with Paluten was facilitated by his manager, Boris Lehfeld, through the 2nd Wave agency. Philip Voges serves as the producer, with Uli Stoef and Jo Daris as co-producers.
