Natascha Grünpeter is a well-known face in the Bavarian games landscape: For the last two and a half years she led the Games, XR and Digital Talents department at the Bavarian Digital Ministry, before that she was Vice-Department Leader and head of the Digital Sovereignty program. She has seen the games effort of Bavaria under CSU minister Judith Gerlach as well as under the current Digital Minister Fabian Mehring.
Now, Grünpeter has been promoted to Head of a new department at the Digital Ministry. The new department is called Digitales Bayern (Digital Bavaria) and will encompass the games division, formerly part of the Innovation department, as well as four other digital divisions. Additionally, the games division has been renamed to now include an esports focus in the name as well.
The following five divisions are be part of Grünpeter’s new department:
- Digitalstandort, Digitale Teilhabe led by Dr Bommer (Digital Locations & Digital Participation)
- Games, XR & Esport led for now by Grünpeter herself
- Smarte Regionen Bayern led by Dr Klöpping (Smart Regions)
- Digitale Kompetenzen, Tech-Talente led by Dr Pfab (Digital Competency)
- Informationssicherheit & Digitale Barrierefreiheit led by Ms Dufner (Information Security & Digital Accessibility)
