Bavarian Games Division Head Natascha Grünpeter is now the leader of a new Digital Bavaria department. Her new department encompasses five areas of digitalisation in the state, including games. The games division now officially supports esports as well.
Natascha Grünpeter is a well-known face in the Bavarian games landscape: For the last two and a half years she led the Games, XR and Digital Talents department at the Bavarian Digital Ministry, before that she was Vice-Department Leader and head of the Digital Sovereignty program. She has seen the games effort of Bavaria under CSU minister Judith Gerlach as well as under the current Digital Minister Fabian Mehring.
Now, Grünpeter has been promoted to Head of a new department at the Digital Ministry. The new department is called Digitales Bayern (Digital Bavaria) and will encompass the games division, formerly part of the Innovation department, as well as four other digital divisions. Additionally, the games division has been renamed to now include an esports focus in the name as well.
