End of 2024 Mitteldeutsche Medienförderung announced the introduction of a separate funding guideline for games. At the second funding session under the new guidelines, four games projects were awarded a total of 306,000 euros in support.

Following the introduction of the new funding guidelines for games, the second decision by Mitteldeutsche Medienförderung (MDM; Central German Media Fund) was eagerly awaited. The decisions have now been published, together with the funding decisions for the film sector. A total of four studios from Mitteldeutschland (Central German region), which comprises the federal states of Saxony, Thuringia and Saxony-Anhalt, will receive support. The funding totals 306,000 euros.

90,000 euros will go to Animation Arts Creative in Naumburg an der Saale in Saxony-Anhalt for the Gabby's Odyssey project. All other funding recipients are based in Leipzig Saxony. Geomazing/Gregor Assfalg will receive 100,000 euros for the game Space Janitor. A further 86,000 euros will go to PandaBee Studios for Explosive Goblins (working title). Last but not least, Team Nava Games will receive 30,000 euros for concept development for the Vivid project.

The latest funding decision brings MDM's funding commitments for games this year to over half a million euros. Yaga Studio already received 150,000 euros for the Resistance 204X project and Heartucate 65,000 euros for the AR game Mary Shelly - The Lost Memories at the first award meeting.

Two more funding sessions are scheduled at the MDM for 2025. The submission deadline for the 3rd award session in October is 11 August. A fourth session is then planned for December. Applications for this session must be submitted by 6 October, although consultation appointments should be booked well in advance in both cases.
