A new Indian publisher for indies has formed in Hyderabad. 1312 Interactive by Mantena Raviteja and Deepak Gurijala aims to "elevate India’s presence in the global gaming community". The company's name does not refer to what you might think.

Just this week, a new indie publisher has presented itself to the public: 1312 Interactive is based in Hyderabad, India, and concentrates on puzzle and narrative games.

1312 has been founded by Deepak Gurijala, Co-Founder of Street Lamp Games, and Mantena Raviteja, former VP of Products at game service provider PTW.

The new company has revealed their starting publishing lineup yesterday, focused on games from India: Winds of Arcana by Brewed Games, Souls of Bombarika by Street Lamp Games, Palm Sugar: A Village Story by Mono Tusk Studios and Twin Flames by Rudrac Games will be the first four titles under the banner of 1312.

“1312 proudly stands as India’s first PC and console game publishing studio dedicated to bringing Indian-developed games to the global audience. We believe in the extraordinary talent of India’s game developers and are committed to showcasing their creativity on the world stage. Our mission is to spotlight the innovation and storytelling that India’s gaming industry has to offer, bridging the gap between local artistry and international gamers,” Gurijala said in a statement to GamesMarkt. “At 1312, we’re more than just a publishing studio; we’re a movement to elevate India’s presence in the global gaming community. By partnering with local developers, we aim to deliver unique and compelling gaming experiences that resonate worldwide. Join us as we embark on this exciting journey to redefine the landscape of Indian gaming.”

While the name of the company might bring pause to readers because of its resemblance to the numbers code for a certain historical, police critical abbreviation, the founders assure that the name holds very personal value to them. “The name ‘1312’ holds a special place in our hearts, symbolizing personal milestones that inspire our journey. It is derived from the birthdays of our founders’ children—a testament to our values of family, growth, and new beginnings. Co-founder Deepak Gurijala welcomed his son on November 12th, while co-founder Ravi Mantena celebrated the birth of his daughter on June 13th. This personal touch reflects our dedication to nurturing emerging talent and fostering a vibrant future for Indian gaming,” explains Mantena.
