Together with the science communication storytellers kurzgesagt, award-winning "Dorfromantik" team Toukana Interactive from Berlin just revealed their next game, "Project Mango", at Future Games Show.

Toukana Interactive, the studio behind the award winning German indie hit "Dorfromantik", is teaming up with science communication storytellers kurzgesagt for their next game. Under the working title "Project Mango", the new game was announced just on the Future Game Show.

Like "Dorfromantik", "Project Mango" wants to offer a fresh and accessible approach to an established genre. "Players can look forward to a colourful and light-hearted gaming experience - and a sometimes tongue-in-cheek undertone reminiscent of the curiosity-inducing videos from kurzgesagt. It will be a completely original game in a space setting with fun and unique building mechanics", Toukana states.

"Project Mango" is planned for a 2025 release on PC via Steam. Until then, the game has a project page on Toukana's website.

How kurzgesagt and Toukana met

The cooperation came about from a first contact between the two German studios Toukana and kurzgesagt at gamescom 2022. "kurzgesagt had been looking into the possible development of a game for some time and was looking for potential partners. At the same time, Toukana was preparing to start pre-production on a new title, having just released the Nintendo Switch version of 'Dorfromantik'. Both studios were already familiar with each other's endearing art style and creations, so the interest in working together was mutual from the start. The vibe was also a perfect match, right down to the birds as mascots. And so the two decided to 'send the birds into space' together in a completely new game in 2023", explain the "Dorfromantik" devs.
