Railroads Online, developed by Stefan Kelnberger and his team and published by astragon Entertainment, will leave Steam Early Access on 5 December after three years. At the same time, the sandbox railway simulation will be released for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. A retail edition is also planned.

In October 2021, the development team led by Stefan Kelnberger released Railroads Online on Steam Early Access. The player base and community grew rapidly in the first months and years. In March 2023, the simulation experts at astragon Entertainment joined as publishing partner.

Railroads Online introduced more than 20 locomotives and 30 wagons with 21 types of freight during its Early Access phase - as well as new maps (Mesa Plains is coming with 1.0), new environments, more than 120 props, several track types, new industries and industry chains. The Tutorial and the In-Game-Wiki gave all players guidance for a start to the game.

Railroads Online will be digitally released on 5 December for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S at a price of €39.9 (SRP) or local equivalent. The game is available as a full version for PC at a price of €34.99 (SRP). The Pioneer DLC will be available separately on all platforms for €2.99 (SRP). Players who own the Steam Early Access version of the game will receive the Pioneer DLC for free. On 27 February 2025, Railroads Online - Pioneer Edition for PlayStation 5 will be released at retail in selected countries. It includes the base game and the Pioneer DLC and will cost €39.99 (SRP).

In Railroads Online, players build a railway network in their own personal sandbox or in multiplayer mode with up to 16 players. In an open game world, players must build tracks, switches and stations to transport a variety of goods using locomotives.
