Fallout as a reflection of the post-apocalypse - an academic German-language anthology on the Fallout computer game universe has been published by Büchner-Verlag. 22 authors approach the series from various media studies perspectives: from production and product analysis to reception analysis.

A scientific analysis of the Fallout series has been published by Arno Görgen and Rudolf Thomas Inderst (anthologist) as an anthology. This examination of the Fallout game franchise includes analyses of the post-apocalyptic scenarios and the gameplay experience. The contributions of the 22 authors approach the series from different perspectives and can be assigned to established analytical approaches in media studies: production, product and reception analysis. They analyse not only the narratives and aesthetics of the game, but also its game mechanics and transmedia connections.

"Old World Blues - 'Fallout' and Playing with the Post-Apocalypse" (German: "Old World Blues - 'Fallout' und das Spiel mit der Postapokalypse") is available for free download on the publisher's website. For those who prefer the book in physical form, a print version is available for 32.00 Euros. This publication is the first German-language digital game studies classification of the Fallout series and represents the overdue and promising prelude to a professional engagement," the announcement reads.
