There Are More Differences Between America and Europe Than Football

While there are similarities, the PlayStation 5 annual charts for 2024 in North America and Europe reveal notable differences. The rankings for PS4, PS VR2, and free-to-play titles also show significant variations. Interestingly, Black Myth: Wukong, which doesn’t appear in the official European charts, secured the #7 spot on PS5 in both North America and Europe.

The most striking difference between the toplists from North America (US/Canada) and Europe lies in their taste for football. In Europe, EA Sports FC claims the #1 position, continuing the streak of its predecessors. In North America, however, the football title barely breaks into the top ten, with Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 taking the top spot. In Europe, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is beaten only by EA Sports FC to land in second place.

In the US, the #2 spot on PS5 is taken by EA Sports College Football 2025, which ranks well ahead of EA Sports Madden NFL, found in sixth place. The differences don’t end there: Sea of Thieves performs significantly better in Europe compared to its position in North America, where two NBA 2K titles make the top 20. Meanwhile, Europe’s charts include popular local titles like Phasmophobia and Cyberpunk 2077. One notable agreement between the two regions is the shared #7 spot for Black Myth: Wukong, the surprise hit from China.

Players across the Atlantic do find more common ground in the charts for other PlayStation platforms. Minecraft dominates on PS4, Beat Saber leads on PS VR2, and Fortnite reigns supreme among free-to-play titles. However, the PS4 charts still show differences between North America and Europe, while the PS VR2 and free-to-play rankings only vary in terms of placement.
