Saxony Organises Its First Gamescom Pavilion
With 18 companies, Saxony will be represented at gamescom for the first time with its own joint booth. Companies from Thuringia and Saxony-Anhalt are also taking part via the Mitteldeutsche Medienförderung.
For the first time, the Wirtschaftsförderung Sachsen (Saxony Economic Development Corporation) is organising a joint booth at gamescom. A total of 18 companies, networks and institutions will present themselves in the gamescom business area and represent the region. Indies from Thuringia and Saxony-Anhalt will also be represented at the Saxony stand via the Mitteldeutsche Medienförderung (MDM; Central German Media Funding), which is based in Leipzig. All three states work closely together through MDM on all media issues, including film and games funding. Nevertheless, it is obviously a joint stand for Saxony and not for Central Germany.
"Get into the game or make the game - our Saxon gamers want to seize this opportunity at the world's largest computer games fair in Cologne. The games industry in Saxony is a young, growing and dynamic part of the regional creative industries. Leipzig and Dresden in particular are increasingly becoming important locations for games development. This year, we are showcasing this potential for the first time at gamescom as the central platform for the games industry in Germany. Companies will present their latest products and developments. Publishers, developers, distributors and other industry players will come together to make contacts and to establish and expand business relationships. I hope that our Saxon players will also benefit from the exchange and networking. Let's play!" says Martin Dulig, Saxony's Minister for Economic Affairs.

"Central Germany is growing as a strong location for a creative games and XR economy. Thanks to its digital strategy, Saxony in particular is a hub for the transfer of new technologies to industry and commerce. We are delighted that the commitment and dedication of the Free State of Saxony has given the industry a new lease of life and hope that our members will have many positive experiences and successful contacts at the leading international trade fair for computer games," says Friedrich Lüder, Chairman of the Board of the regional industry association Games & XR Central Germany.
