Seventeen Press Start Scholarship (start-up grant) recipients will be showcasing their games at gamescom. These can be found at the Press Start stand in the Indie Arena Booth, the Home of Indies, and the Business Area.

Eight games developed by recipients of the Press Start Scholarship can be played at several stands at gamescom 2025. The main point of contact is the official 'Press Start' stand in the Indie Arena Booth (Hall 10.2, F010g-E019), where three scholarship-funded projects will be presented. These are Cosmo Drill from Happy Hippo, Hieronymus from Rhenus Vina Musica, and Seaward from The Roof Interactive. Right next door at the Hessen stand in the Indie Arena Booth is Garden Ink from Kranich Games. Rootbound, from Brainlag Games, can be found in the Home of Indies (Hall 10.2, E010gD011g). Trade visitors can also try out the Kiosk Simulator from Neptun Interactive at the Film und Medienstiftung NRW stand in the business area (Hall 4.1, A061/B070). Another game featured in the trade visitor area is Portal to the Cosmobeat from 4bpm at the Hessen joint booth (Hall 4.1, D060g). Bot Slash Bot by Traveller's Box will be exhibited at both the Raw Talent joint stand in the entertainment area (Hall 10.2, D042g–D044g) and the Saxony stand in the business area (Hall 4.1, A051g/B060g).

"The Games Start-up Grant is bearing fruit! The games exhibited at gamescom represent the wide variety of ideas in the scholarship programme and demonstrate the participants' progress. For the scholarship holders, gamescom is an important milestone as they are now halfway through their scholarship period. In keeping with this, we will be taking a look at the current status of their exciting start-up journey at the devcom halfway event," says Nandita Wegehaupt, Managing Director of the Stiftung Digitale Spielekultur.

"Even at this early stage, it is clear how important and helpful this programme is for developers taking their first steps. The first games on display at gamescom now illustrate the great potential of game developers in Germany. Thanks to the support of the German government, companies and projects are getting off the ground that will be an important part of Germany's future as a cultural, digital and economic location," adds Felix Falk, Managing Director of game - the German Games Industry Association.

On 18 August, the scholarship will celebrate its official midway point at the devcom trade conference, where there will be a programme of talks for all scholarship holders. Further information, along with images and video content relating to the projects of the 132 scholarship recipients, is now available online.
