Following the successful launch of Everspace 2 on PC, Rockfish Games' AA title has also taken off on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. More than one million players have already been counted. Rockfish CEO Schade is extremely pleased with the sales.

Rockfish Games is pleased with the successful console launch of "Everspace 2" on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. The space shooter from Hamburg already has "tens of thousands" of players. More than 1,111,111 people have already tried out the title via Game Pass on PC and Xbox. The full version has been sold over 400,000 times on PC and consoles. The PC version sold 300,000 units in its launch week after coming out of Early Access on 6 April 2023. At the time, the independent AA developer was celebrating the "outstanding sales success" of the self-funded game. Rockfish Games has also already exceeded its financial goals.

"There is nothing better than seeing the space genre experience a massive resurgence, and the team at Rockfish is thrilled to be a part of it. We set out to create an accessible, arcade-style space adventure and it's clear that our game is resonating with space pilots around the world," said Michael Schade, CEO of Rockfish Games. "Everspace 2 is doing even better than our original surprise hit. In the same time period, we've seen nearly three times as many sales on each platform and more than four times as many players on Game Pass.

Alongside the console launch, a major update has been released for the PC version, including new items, perks, equipment modifiers, customisation options, updated music and MacOS support. "Over the past six years, our team has built something truly unforgettable - an acclaimed game and a strong community of space shooter fans," said Schade. "The (...) update is a great way to celebrate that success." With another free update in spring 2024 and an expansion featuring new star systems, additional story content and even more loot already in production, Everspace fans can expect even more space shooter action in the years to come. The expansion, working title The Companions, will focus on the backstories of the main game's companions and their motivations for joining the hero. The expansion was funded by the BMWK to the tune of almost 1.65 million euros.

Rockfish Games has also released the Everspace 2 soundtrack and artbook as digital downloads. Together with publisher Maximum Games, a collector's package for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S has been released at Amazon, MediaMarkt and Saturn.
