The winter 2024 UploadVR Showcase, hosted by the prominent US magazine specializing in virtual reality, shone a spotlight on two studios from the GSA region: Berlin’s Thoughtfish and Vienna’s Niorun.

Visibility is crucial for success in the VR sector, where games often struggle to receive the same attention as their PC, mobile, or console counterparts. This makes it all the more significant that these two studios were included in the event.

Thoughtfish garnered attention for its released title Living Room, while Niorun presented Tier One: Direct Action, which is poised to enter Early Access soon. The showcase, supported by Meta, highlighted several European productions, although the majority of featured projects came from English-speaking developers.

European studios like Oisoi (Wait Waht's That?) from Belgium, PotamWorks (Cues) from France, Brainz Gamify (Pet'n'Run) from the Czech Republic, Singular Perception (Epyka) from Italy, and Spain’s Garage51 (Drums Rock) and The Game Kitchen (All on Board!) also made appearances, reflecting the growing global reach of VR development.
