In early 2026, Germany's most famous kobold, Pumuckl, will return to the world of video games following the franchise's recent success on television and in cinemas. In Pumuckl and the Crown of the Pirate King, developed by Oldenburg-based Quantumfrog, players are taken to both Master Eder's Munich workshop and a magical parallel world. The game is published by THQ Nordic.

The game will launch for PC and Nintendo Switch in early 2026, with an SRP of €39.99. It is being developed in collaboration with Beta Film GmbH and Pumuckl Media GmbH, with financial support from Beta Film GmbH and funding provided by nordmedia Film und Mediengesellschaft Niedersachsen/Bremen mbH.

The red-haired troublemaker, based on the classic character created by Ellis Kaut and originally designed by Barbara von Johnson, will meet new companions, including Captain Krimskrams and Krakula the parrot. THQ Nordic: "Set in a mysterious pirate realm, the game feels like a perfect match for Pumuckl, who, as a descendant of the legendary Klabautermann spirits, outsmarts skeleton pirates, solves clever puzzles in isometric 3D levels, and takes on a variety of mini-games. Players help the spirited kobold master each challenge and ultimately discover the Pirate King’s crown. You can experience the adventure solo or in local co-op mode, where Pumuckl and Captain Krimskrams set off together."
