The 2K Launcher has now been completely removed from all the publisher's PC games. It is no longer used on Steam or the Epic Games Store.

Extra launchers for PC games distributed on online platforms such as Steam or the Epic Games Store are common - and most of the time, these extra pieces of software are not very popular with many gamers, unless they offer some useful added value such as mod management. Take-Two Interactive's publishing label 2K Games has now announced that the 2K Launcher was removed from all games a week ago, and that a follow-up update was distributed yesterday. The reasons for the cancellation of the 2K launcher have not been made public.

This means that Bioshock Remastered, Bioshock 2 Remastered, Bioshock Infinite, The Quarry and Marvel's Midnight Suns will all launch straight away - and some problems with the Steam Deck are a thing of the past. In the case of Civilization VI, the launcher was removed earlier. The publisher writes: "We've done the heavy lifting, but to take it all the way home there might be one step left for you. First thing is to try closing and reopening Steam - that means completely closing and not just using the X to minimize the platform. Rebooting your PC is a good way to be sure it happened. For Epic, just make sure you've downloaded the most recent update for the game."
