Capcom Sells Eight Million Units of Monster Hunter Wilds in Three Days

Monster Hunter Wilds has sold over eight million copies worldwide in three days. No other game from the Japanese publisher has reached this milestone faster. Capcom attributes this success to a number of global initiatives.
Monster Hunter Wilds was released on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S on 28 February 2025, and sold more than eight million copies worldwide in just three days. No other game in Capcom's long history has achieved this faster. GameDiscoverCo estimates that the game generated nearly $70 million in revenue on Steam alone on launch day.
Capcom attributes this success to a number of global initiatives. "Following the game's announcement, Capcom promoted the appeal of Monster Hunter Wilds to a broad audience worldwide, exhibiting the title at global video game events and holding an online open beta test to give many players a chance to try it, while also providing updates on game information via the online events such as Monster Hunter Wilds Showcase," the publisher said.
Monster Hunter Wilds is already ranked 13th on the publisher's all-time best-selling list (data as of December 2024). Monster Hunter: World (2018) is still the company's best-selling game, with 21.3 million units sold, or 28.10 million units if the Monster Hunter World: Iceborne Master Edition is included.
