Everspace 2: Wrath of the Ancients Release Date and the Importance of Government Funding

Rockfish Games has announced a May release date for its upcoming Everspace 2 expansion, Wrath of the Ancients, made possible in part by government funding. At the same time, Rockfish Games CEO and co-founder Michael Schade emphasizes the importance of this funding for games.

Rockfish Games has announced the release date for the upcoming expansion. Wrath of the Ancients will continue the story of Everspace 2. It adds new post-game and side-quest storylines. Players will discover four new explorable star systems, each with multiple locations, as well as a new spaceship that introduces a new play style through powerful ability combos. The expansion will be available on Steam, GOG.com, PlayStation and Xbox on 12 May 2025. It will be priced at €29.99 and will be fully voiced in English and German.

"Space pilots only have a short while longer to wait until they can experience this exciting chapter of the Everspace saga. This massive expansion packages together much of what our community has been asking  for: new places to explore, more enemies to fight, an additional spacecraft to master, and gear to discover," said Rockfish Games CEO and Co-Founder, Michael Schade. Everspace 2: Wrath of the Ancients and Everspace 2: Titans were made possible with partial funding from the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action of Germany.

"These grants help create jobs and fund creative projects that showcase German technical and expertise across many game genres. A program that has become even more important with the ongoing lack of industry funding for new projects."

The release of Everspace 2: Wrath of the Ancients will be accompanied by new digital Official Soundtrack and DLC Artbook DLCs on PC, collecting music and art developed since the release of the base game, as well as a Galactic Edition, collecting Everspace 2 and all its expansions in one package on Xbox and PlayStation.
