The SAE Awards are presented at the SAE Convention, the annual meeting of current and former students of SAE Institute educational institutions worldwide. The convention focuses on networking and exchange, but also on continuing education. This year's program featured over 20 talks and panels, covering topics ranging from animation and VFX to music, film, television, and game development, mirroring the curriculum at SAE itself.
The awards themselves also cover all areas of the entertainment world and are divided into the SAE Alumni Awards, the SAE Student Awards, and the SAE Special Awards. A total of 193 media productions were submitted by creatives from 29 SAE locations worldwide. Over 1,000 guests celebrated the winners in 18 categories. Those from Hamburg had particular cause for celebration. A total of 7 awards went to current and former SAE students in Hamburg.
